Mario Ceroli Chest of Drawers
An exceptional, highly architectural chest of drawers constructed of solid, untreated Russian pine, with each of the four drawer fronts fitted with a repeating series of semicircular elements, designed by acclaimed Italian post-war artist and designer Mario Ceroli (b. 1938) and produced by Poltronova. Ceroli first began working with wood during the 1950s and would become influenced by the sculptural work of Louise Nevelson, which is certainly evidenced here. Part of his Mobili nella Valle collection (a tribute to the so named 1927 Giorgio de Chirico painting), this organic design ingeniously juxtaposes an unassuming material with a dynamic, rhythmic form, resulting in a work that’s at once understated and visually arresting, making it a particularly ideal choice for a foyer or entryway. A truly standout and hard-to-source case piece that will seamlessly integrate into both minimalist/modern and more eclectic/expressive interiors. Branded to side rear corner, ‘Ceroli Poltronova’. 1970s.
37 h x 44 w x 25 d
Condition: good, age–appropriate wear
